The BANDANG HUNTING FESTIVAL held in Ngbakowo one week after the festival of Omtu Ngbatekaito at Gyawana. (Please, check my wall to see my post on Omtu Gyawana, also known as the Omtu Ngbatekaito). I participated in the 2024 edition which held last Saturday, 6th June. It was beautiful! Following my tradition of studying and asking questions and learning, I used the opportunity to study the festival up close (I am currently working on a detailed compilation). It is one in a series of many festivals in the rich and varied Bwatiye cultural calendar. The Bwatiye have, unarguably, the most varied and rich cultural festivals and practices in the whole of northern Nigeria. Here are pictures from the occasion. Confession: Don’t mind my awkward dance steps and posture. Due to my height, I am a bit unable to properly bend my back to enact the Bwatiye dance step and posture. But I try o! And my full gray beard is growing fast! I like my new look o! Enjoy. (Photo credit: Illiya Dennis) #Agosotó #DrArnobb #nzonomwe #nzohome #bwatiyetotheworld #enjoybwatiyeculture
